    Facebook is the largest social media platform with over 2 billion monthly active users worldwide. It allows users to create a personal profile and connect with friends and family. Some key features include sharing status updates, photos, videos, engaging with friend's posts, joining groups based on interests and forming communities. Facebook owns other popular platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger extending its social media dominance.


YouTube:




YouTube is the largest online video sharing platform with over 2 billion logged-in users monthly. Users can create channels to upload, view, like, share and comment on various videos. It has transitioned from being a platform just for homemade or funny videos to a force in online video consumption including music, entertainment, news and a platform for creators to build an audience.


Twitter:



   Twitter is a micro blogging platform allowing users to share short text updates called tweets that are 280 characters or less. It spurred the use of hash tags to categorize tweets and started trends worldwide. Key features include following other user's tweets, sharing various types of multimedia with tweets and direct messaging other users. It is highly popular for news, events and social commentary.



Instagram:





   Instagram started as a photo sharing platform but has expanded to include short videos as well. Users can take or share pictures and videos, add various filters and effects to photos, follow other users and engage with their posts using likes and comments. With features like Instagram stories and IGTV, it has become very popular especially among the younger demographic for social networking based on photos.



TikTok:




    TikTok is a video sharing platform known popularly for its short form videos, often set to music or comedy. Users can view an endless stream of videos, like, comment and share them. They can also create their own lip-sync, comedy or talent videos and has become immensely popular among Gen Z users. Its personalized algorithm is extremely engaging and addictive as it recommends new videos continually.
